Whether you’re here for a day, a week, or decide to make this your home, we know you’ll fall in love with all that is Austin; from the food trucks to the live music, arts, and entertainment, there’s something for everybody!
Austin, Texas’ capital city, is the 13th largest in the nation and 4th largest in the State of Texas. Aside from Phoenix, AZ and Indianapolis, IN, Austin is the largest state capital in the nation (and on a side note, everything really is bigger in Texas…our Capital building is 4’ taller than the national capital in Washington, DC.) With a population of close to 900,000 according to the 2011 Census, Austin makes up a large chunk of the Historic Central Texas/San Marcos Region which boasts an overall population of 1.8 million residents.
Located in Central Texas, Austin is not only home to The University of Texas Longhorns, but also hosts an array of Fortune 500 companies including home offices and regional corporate offices for: Advanced Micro Devices, Apple, eBay, Google, IBM, Texas Instruments, 3M, Samsung, and Whole Foods Market. Also, located in nearby Round Rock is Dell’s corporate headquarters. There are bountiful job opportunities and a thriving economy in this forward thinking city!
The region is classified as having a humid sub-tropical climate, with mild winters and hot summers; the hottest day on record, Augu
st 28, 2011, was 112 degrees F., while the coldest day is noted as January 31, 1949, when temperatures fell to -2 degrees F.
Austin and Central Texas are a great place to call home. Explore Austin, take in the sites and scenes, experience “Austinite” hospitality, but most importantly, as we like to say around here, “Keep Austin Weird.”
